One of my favorite days of the year is BASTILLE DAY; which is French National Day and takes place on July 14th. As you may have seen from my INSTAGRAM, I have getting ready for the annual celebration in my French neighborhood in Brooklyn hosted by RICARD and BAR TABAC.
For the party, they close down Smith Street to add in a ton of sand for a very competitive pétanque tournament. There are tents with all sorts of drinks to try from RICARD Pastis, Lillet and Rosé wine. In addition to drinks and pétanque, you’ll also find fun freebies and giveaways to enter, including a trip to Provence courtesy of Air Canada ROUGE and the Provence Tourism Board!
DATE: Bastille Day in Brooklyn: Sunday July 15th
TIME: 10am – 8pm. Pro-Tip The crowds start rolling in usually around noon but with the World Cup finals starting at 11am I suggest arriving around 9am if you’d like to try and get a seat to watch the game. There will be TV’s playing the game both inside and outside on Dean Street.
UPDATE: Due to the World Cup Finals, Bar Tabac has changed the start time for the pétanque tournament this year and it will now begin at 1pm.
If you’re not in the NYC area then have your own Bastille Day celebration with a picnic in your favorite park. Just don’t forget the RICARD, baguettes, cheese + wine.
