During my recent move, I went through a box of old photos and found some gems from a holiday trip to Bangkok. It was a fantastic few days that sent my senses into overdrive before heading to the Philippines for a friend’s amazing wedding. It was my first time to Asia and the scents, sounds & sights were out of this world. So many cultural experiences! I loved visiting the night markets, Grand Palace and temples filled with Buddha’s and ornate statues. They put such detail into creating these stunning buildings and statues.
While in Bangkok I highly recommend visiting Wat Arun, Wat Pho, the Grand Palace, their Little India neighborhood, and the night markets. I loved traveling around the city by water taxi along the Chao Phraya River. My favorite dinner was at ‘The Deck’ at the Arun Residences. It’s located on the river with an amazing view of Wat Arun.
The above photo shows the fantastic view from our room at the Shangri-La Hotel (must less expensive here than in other parts of the world). The hotel has the most incredible breakfast buffet which helped us start a day of exploring with plenty of energy. The spa is also amazing! I arrived one day before my friend, who was joining me, and decided to spend it on a massage and other treatments. On our third day, we took the train north about an hour to visit the ruins at Ayutthaya. Stay turned for a post with more details on Ayutthaya.
