Tis the Season for warm apple cider, nights at home by the fire and visiting festive holiday markets in your hometown and when on holiday. This past Christmas, my boyfriend and I spent our holiday break in Paris. On many afternoons we found ourselves at the Paris Holiday Markets around town, whether shopping for gifts or picking up some tasty snacks from melted cheese over a plate of scalloped potatoes, mulled wine or charcuterie and cheese to bring back to our Airbnb apartment rental. We visited the market on the Champs-Elysees a few times because of their special gourmet section close to Place de la Concorde. Tasting everything from foie gras, crepes, smoked salmon and bubbly champagne; but not all at once of course. Across the street from is where you can find the best items to give as gifts; in a small area showcasing small artisans behind the main stalls that are right on the Champs-Elysees selling snow globes, gingerbread cookies and more.
Did you spot Michael Jackson in one of the above photos? LOVE that!!
Another one of my favorite Paris holiday markets is along Boulevard Saint Germain. I picked up some cute baby gifts for friends and hand painted ornaments for my Christmas tree. Now though more than ever, you will find a lot of stalls selling mass market items but its worth walk through for those stalls run by small French companies and family made products. If you keep looking, you’ll definitely find some gems among the wool hats and gloves.
xx Angie
