Bright Lights Paris…Takes Paris

1IMG_8530What a whirlwind the past couple of months has been on the BRIGHT LIGHTS PARIS book tour.  I was able to visit Paris not once, but twice and with a third trip being planned as we speak.   Here’s the first of a few posts sharing some of my favorite moments in Paris with the scoop on where we ate, shopped and even found time for an out of town excursion.   My first trip was a very quick one – just 18 hours in Paris – with my friend and amazing BLP photographer, Haleigh Walsworth for a fun night.  We started at her adorable apartment in the Lower Marais then made our way over to WH Smith Paris to check out my book in the window!! YES, I said WINDOW.  It was beyond an exciting moment that I will never forget.  From there we wandered across the Seine to Saint Germain where we had an amazing dinner at one of my favorites, CLOVER by Chef Jean-Francois Piege.  The next morning we stayed in Haleigh’s neighborhood and enjoyed tea and homemade quiche at Le Loir dans la Théière.  Right after breakfast, I was sad to say à bientôt to Haleigh and head back to NYC.  Seen here wearing my favorite Sarah Flint Elena Derby Loafers.

BLP Paris TourNext up was a trip with girlfriends for Paris Fashion Week where for the first time, I flew the ultra chic and comfortable, La Compagnie Airline.  This new airline with a daily flight from Newark to Paris and London features all business class seats, the highest level of service and by far the most incredible food I have ever tasted on a flight.  Who knew, a flight meal could have so much flavor and fresh ingredients.  I found an adorable and perfectly located Airbnb in the heart of Saint Germain for myself and two friends, Arielle and Eliot.  It had an amazing view and around the corner of my favorite cafes Cafe de Flore and Les Deux Magots.  Here’s one of my travel tidbits ~ I bring along a mini Lots-O-Huggins doll (from Disney’s Toy Story 3) because he smells like strawberries and freshens up any room.  He’s also fun to cuddle with.   BLP Paris Airbnb1DSCF3802First on the agenda was an ice cream party, hosted by one of my favorite authors, Elizabeth Bard, who also happens to own Scaramouche, one of the greatest ice cream shops in all of France {Just ask Eater}.   We happily tasted their entire assortment of ice cream and sorbets from mint chocolate, apricot, rosemary and even white Truffle.  BLP Paris scaramoucheThe following morning I was treated to a heavenly facial at the lovely Darphin Paris Spa.  Hidden down a little alley, as most of my favorite places in Paris are, this gem is just around the corner from Place Vendome and the bustling Tuileries neighborhood.  It’s a must stop when you need some pampering in Paris.  I left feeling refreshed, glowing and ready to take on the City of Lights. I met up with Eliot to explore the Upper Marais with a stop for lunch at the Marché des Enfants Rouges (I highly recommend the Moroccan stand), then up to Canal Saint Martin for a cocktail at Le Comptoir General with some great shopping along the way.  Arielle arrived that evening and met us for wine at La Palette around the corner at the apartment.  The next morning our Parisian adventure began with a day trip to the chic and glorious House of Moet+Chandon in Epernay.  Stay tuned for a full feature on our experience, visit to the vineyard and cellars with an incredible lunch and champagne tasting .   That evening, the three of us enjoyed a delicious dinner at Ellsworth and a lively night in Paris.  1DSCF3831Sunday morning, I slipped out of the apartment and down the street to Gout de Brioche by Guy Savoy and surprised the girls with a plate of sweet and savory brioche.  Then it was off to WH Smith for my book signing followed by a celebratory afternoon exploring Montmartre where we of course stopped back into Scaramouche for some more ice cream. 1DSCF38861DSCF3908Our last day was packed full of shopping at some of my favorites ~ Cire Trudon, Maison Francis Kurkdjian, and Lancaster Paris to pick up another of my favorite bucket bags, this time in red.  The trip ended with a spectacular dinner party celebrating BRIGHT LIGHTS PARIS at Clover Saint Germain.  Full party report coming soon.   So it was back to New York City via La Compagnie which I most definitely be flying again soon.  1 clover mDSCF39271MG_8541
